Ordering Custom Fabrics from Artistic Textiles
Obtaining the custom textiles you want has never been faster, easier, or more affordable. For your convenience, we've outlined the steps below and have tried to provide you with as much information as possible so that the process flows smoothly from start to finish! But of course, if you have any questions along the way, call us - or send an email - and we'll do what we can to answer your questions.
Step 1: Develop your Design
Whether you have your own design, or simply have an idea to work from, our creative team will work closely with you to develop fabric that is exclusively yours. You have complete control over the design and an unlimited choice of colors.
Artwork Specifications
- We accept TIFF (.tif), Adobe Illustrator (.ai) EPS (.eps) and Photoshop (.psd) files.
- We prefer not to print JPEG (.jpg) files because they are often of very poor quality. Even with a great deal of effort on the part of our art department, we doubt you'd be satisfied with the printed result - particularly if there's any scaling or enlarging required.
- If you're designing your own artwork, please use a resolution of at least 150 dpi at 100%. For enlarging your image or producing higher quality images, higher resolutions are needed.
- Your artwork files must be accompanied by a full-colour, full-size, 8" x 10" hard copy of the design printed on matte paper. If the design is larger than 8" x 10", then we need a full-size cropped area of it that contains all the colours in the design.
- Please note: By submitting artwork to Artistic Textiles, you are accepting responsibility for reproduction of any copyrighted material. All Permissions for any reproduction must be obtained from the copyright owner and are the responsibility of the client. Artistic Textiles accepts no responsibility for legal challenges based on claims of copyright infringement. By submitting files for reproduction you accept full legal and financial responsibility for any such challenges.
Step 2: Select your Textile
Choose from over 60 substrates - specially treated, "base" textiles that have been specially prepared for digital printing. Options range from sheer, several weights of silks, cottons or poly blends to wool gabardines. We also offer substrates suitable for industrial use, signage, flags, sails and artist canvas. Our most popular substrates include:

Approve your Sample
Once we receive your files and hard copy, we colour-match our inks to the colours in your design, print a small sample of your pattern on the fabric you have selected and send it to you for proofing.
It's important to bear in mind that your printed sample will only be as good as the artwork we receive. Designs printed on textiles look different than they do on paper because of either the nap of the fabric or its weave - or a combination of both.
With "natural" fibres like hemp, the colours can be slightly skewed because we're not starting with a white textile, but something that has not been bleached or treated.
So - the sampling phase is very important for both you and us and it's during this time that we work most closely together. If necessary, changes and minor adjustments can be made quickly and easily.
Once you're satisfied with your sample and have approved the proof, we'll print your order and ship your textiles within days.
